After the last release of Joomla 1.5.15 on November 4, 2009, The Joomla Project has released a major security release Joomla 1.5.16.
It is highly recommended to upgrade immediately to JOOMLA! 1.5.16.

Joomla 1.5.x has a known issue related to the display of pdf file in IE7. When you click on the pdf icon for any content item in IE7, it opens a popup with blank window. To fix the issue, follow this article on docs.joomla.org.
Now we have switched over to Joomla 1.5 for all the new projects. As an application, Joomla! 1.5 remarkably advances over Joomla! 1.0 in the areas of extensibility, usability and internationalization. Building extensions is vastly easier and faster because of the comprehensive new API. The simplified user interface eliminates unnecessary clicks and context changes for site administrators and managers.
Support for extended character sets, right to left languages, and translation of all static text in the front end and the administrator allows enhanced internationalization and worldwide use. New options for use of layout overrides and template parameters give designers total control over the look and feel of sites.
We have launched the dedicated ecommerce solution site for SSecom using Joomla 1.5. The site has come out nicely using the Rockettheme template. The site completely compliant with xHTML/css.

Finally the stable version of Joomla 1.5 is available. After working for so many projects over last three years in Joomla 1.0x, its was bit weary to switch to Joomla 1.5. We have been following the release candidates for quite sometime and now we have deployed 1.5 with our latest Joomla project.
The project is a news portal for News agency by the name of South Asia Times. The project is complete and has been launched at: http://www.southasiatimes.in.
My experience with Joomla 1.5 is truly satisfying. The feature to easily change the content type is something very useful for the people maintaining the large site with various content types. Congrats and thank to everybody involved in the process of making Joomla the best CMS !
Joomla 1.5 RC3 is available for download. It has been codenamed “Takriban” which is a Hindi word meaning almost or nearly. The stable version is now going to be released very soon. There have been significant improvements and bug fixes in the RC3. You can find the upgrade and new install details at:
